Well if its at the store, point out its condition and see if they will discount it. If not, walk away.

Is there anything you have to be particularly observant of with favia? I bought a frag recently and it quickly died on me while other corals did well.

I wouldnt even spend money on that . 1- it's browned out to the max 2- it's half dead showing half it's skeleton 3- probably wont be able to keep it alive no offense

After reading about this coral I have to doubt that if it could be saved I could do it but... I'm not sure it can be. They have it in a low salinity tank with a single power compact and they don't feed anything fine enough for it to consume. Don't get me wrong this is the best fish store in my town but they are still setting up their coral tank. They got the corals but not the lights because of shipping issues... I might just wait for the next one.

If the price is right, go for it. might be able to save it. like you said, their conditions were not ideal. if you have optimal,..... maybe
