Ok I setup a 90g in October and not realizing how bad the scratches were until after the cycle and lights on I couldn't stand it. I was able to get a decent deal on a Aqueon 180g with dual corner overflows. My question is the drains I want to keep as neat as possible. I was planning on running the 1" drain from each corner into a 1-1/2" that T's into the sump or should I just run each 1" into the sump. I guess another way to put it is how should I leave the tank with both the drain and return. I'm picking up the tank tomorrow which is an hour away and my best plumbing options are there too close to my lfs. If anyone has any pics they could share I'd appreciate it. I've googled and searched but can't find any examples to help me decide. The tank is on 2" sq steel tube frame I built. I will be starting the change over Friday morning.
Thanks,
Scott

I plumbed my drains together and returns seperate as I use two seperate return pumps. Honestly it really doesn't matter as long as you don't restrict your flow. Plumb it so you're happy with it cosmetically as long as it functions who cares?

My system came with barb type fittings on both the overflow and returns, so it was just easier to do them separately with flexible tubing. I used two Mag 9's for the returns, with no fittings between the sump and tank.

If I understand correctly you plan on joining the two 1'' from the overflows into a single 1.5'' and then run that into the sump? The only problem I could see there is that if there was a blockage i.e curious snail or something in the 1.5'' it would restrict all flow from the tank and cause a flood.
Probably unlikely just figured Id mention it.
