Skimmer problem

All it skims is water from the tank. Its a aquac urchin that has been running in the tank for two days. Is this just a stage of the skimmer breaking in? The break in period is supposed to be three weeks.

Most likely. How high is the cup? Most skimmers take a few weeks to break in. I have had three skimmers in my lifetime and all three when broken in, I put the cup as high as it would go and then dialed it in after the break in.

Have you added any kind of dechlorinators or water conditioners to the tank?

I use prime since i don't have an rodi unit yet.

Well you might wanna consider an RODI now. Dechlorinators really do nothing. Chlorine evaporates if you let it sit 24 hrs in a bucket.

But your problem is going to be phosphates and metals in the tap water. Say hello to nuisance algae lol
