Get a controller and ATO, it will help save you some time. I also have a 54G corner.

Controller isnt necessary. Buit Id definately get an ATO.

As for return pump, why not just go with the Eheim 1262?

ATO is on my list but its not needed to get the tank up and running. When I see how much money I have left it will be one of the first things I get.

The 1262 seemed more then I needed, plus the 1262 costs twice as much ($90 to $180), uses more then twice the power(31w to 80w), it also seems to put out more water (530gph to 900gph) then I need.

Is there some reason why the 1262 is better suited then the compact+?

Going to use the dual float switch from autotopoff.com once I get everything setup
