And can I used a hole saw designed for tile?

Depends on the bulkhead. Probably 1 3/4" for an ABS bulkhead. I would drill a test hole on a piece of plastic and try it out first. Where did you get it? The supplier should have guidelines/recommendations.

On BRS under their drill bits it tells what size bulkhead works for that bit. I would just get one from them they are fairly cheap and they had a video on doing it. I used one from them no problems. Good luck

Definitely get the bulkhead first as the whole sizes are not the same!
Measure twice, cut once!

There are glass bits on ebay for like 20 bucks.

1 5/8'' would be a snug fit. Thats the sizes of mine had no problems.
Not sure on the saw.

I use a 45mm diamond saw from Richontools.com that cost less than $5 for all of my 1" sch40 bulkheads. The saw has lasted quite a few holes, can't remember how many now, I've had it for several years.
