OK, I had this thing out of the box for 5 minutes and have already killed it:).

I connected to 192.168.1.50 and logged in, looked around for a second and went to network settings. I turned OFF DHCP (mistake) and I also cleared the IP address. My router assigns IP addresses to all clients based on MAC address, unfortunately with DHCP off this does not work.

I have tried the following:

Several power cycles
Using flash utility to browse for the Aquacontroller Jr (nothing)
Ping apex (nothing)
telnet apex (nothing)
Googled and searched forums for solution, found lots of dead ends.

Unfortunately I don't have the optional display that can be used to to change the settings.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking, and try the discovery/browse tool again.

Safemode with networking does not help. I captured the network packet below using a port sniffer. The MAC address of the APEX is (00:0c:11:23:16:46) and you can see in red below where the APEX is broacasting IP address 255.255.255.255. Since DHCP is disabled and there is no IP address in the device I'm not sure how I can connect.

There is a way to revover from this, I'm just not sure what to do. I have contacted APEX but have not heard back.

FYI. Neptune provided a special firmware via email that allowed the Aquacontroller to be reset to defaults. This worked on the first try and all is well. Excellent support!
