I discovered some white tips at my SPS recently.
What's wrong? Do I have to worry? :uhoh3:

Water parameter:
sg = 1.026
pH = 8.22
temp = 79 F
NH4 = <= 0.25 (feeding NPS)
NO3 = 0
NO2 = 0
PO4 = 0
Ca = 390-430
Lights: LED (not changed recently)

All other corals are doing fine (so far).

Thanks in advance and sorry for the bad pictures, but I am hoping you are getting the idea.

What's your Alk (kh) level? Also, have you changed ANYTHING at all recently?

Good question. I do not test for Alk, yet.
No, I didn't change anything. However, obviously something changed.

Hard to say from the pictures, but it could well be new growth. Don't make any drastic changes without knowing what you have going on.

+1, but Alk is crucial to test/maintain. I would strongly advise you to test it. Also, magnesium would be helpful, but it is not as much of a necessity to test as KH is.

Do you have an angel or butterfly? Bite marks?

If you're going to keep stony corals, it is crucial to be involved with your alk, calcium and magnesium levels. And wth sps speficially, stability of appropriate levels is highly recommended.

+1 alk is the number one teat for SPS and can be used as a reference test for CA and MG

Thanks for all the input. Let's hope it is new growth.

SeaIsle: I do not have any angels or butterfly's

Yup, I know Mg & Alk is important to know. That' why the Profilux is on order and some test kits :dance:

ALK is the main component to test with SPS. Read more. :)

You are absolutely right! Should have done it earlier!
Thanks!
