Hey folks...

I got an Algae Blenny last Sunday (today is Saturday) and I've only seen him twice since putting him in. Is it normal for them to hide out in the rocks and in the tunnels underneath the rocks?

Don't know if he's a goner already - but I'm hoping he's not.

My parameters are good and I have other fish & inverts doing fine in the tank, so I don't think that could be the cause.

Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

For just about all of the bottom-dwelling blennies that is about right.

They tend to pick out burrows (sometimes one, sometimes multiple) and poke out of them to watch their territory. Then, depending on the type of blenny, they expand on that behavior as they get used to the tank. For your type that will probable be perching behavior, with a little bit of hovering when grazing. But for the most part their behavior has them hugging the rockwork most the time.
