Hey all,

Just wanted to share this. Noticed a weird behavior of my candy cane corals last night. I got couple of heads that are splitting; with two mouths present in one polyp. Was feeding the corals. When the polyp re-opened after a round of feeding, I noticed there is something that is being munched on by both of the mouths. At first I thought it was a piece of food. I soon realize it was not as the piece of "thingy" got longer overtime. It was almost like the two mouths were playing tug of war. I noticed this behavior on two of the polyps that had two months in them. Eventually, both of the newer mouths won the tug of war (make sense?). The strand would be pulled out of the older mouths and back into the newer ones. It looked like tubes of some sort. I know there are some corals that turns their digestive organ inside out in order to capture more food. Not sure if the candy canes are capable of doing so. If so, maybe the older mouths consumed the digestive organ the new mouths were spitting out!? :eek1: What do you think? Here are couple of pictures:
