Mounting AI Sols Parallel on Rails?

I have 2 AI Sols over my tank that are currently mounted perpendicular to the front of the tank on the rail system that was designed for the Sols. I'd like to change them and mount them parallel instead to get better coverage. Has anyone done this using the existing rail system before? What did you use for end caps to the rails? The existing end caps are too wide if the lights are parallel, and I don't have the option to hang them from the ceiling or walls.

AI has a new rail system called EXT which may offer more flexibility.

This is what I did. The Sol heatsink slides in the mounting rails on its outer edge and a 1/8" alum strip pivots to lock the light in place.
