DIY Plastic Line Bender Plans?

Has anyone in here built their own DIY line bender for bending acrylic? If so can you post pics and/or plans on how to build a (cough cough) relatively safe one?

The best plans that I have seen was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkjsPrWT0Ic, and the heater for it was at http://www.briskheat.com/p-152-rh-plastic-bending-strip-heater.aspx. They have three lengths to choose from. But how safe is it? Maybe James can answer that one.
