I just picked this up off Craigslist for $75. This was running on a 300g reef tank before the owner switched it to freshwater. She was the second owner of the setup and was not sure of the brand name and model.

I am pretty sure what it is, I just want some second opinions.

Dimensions. 10" w 5.5' d 8'h with tower 21 3/8' high.

Let me know what you think.

No idea. Maybe if you take out the pump, it would have model # and reveal more insights

That is a modified aquac ev probably a 240, but maybe an old 400.

Some people on my local forum points this to be a "Aquatecture Ram". From the couple pics that exist of these on the whole on the internet, it looks to be it.

But there seems no info at all on these online....

I just want to know what pump to run on it to run optimally. I'm picking up a Mag 9.5 tomorrow to run it. But with the height of the column, I wonder if that's enough?

You're going to need a Mag 12 at least, IMO.

So I would look to see if the size parameters more closely meet the AQUC 240 or the 400. If it matches the 400, I am using an Iwalki 55 RLT:

I wouldn't run anything else. If it is closer to the 240, I would go with the Mag 12.

I agree. Looks like the AquaC. There are some great videos on you tube in regards to adjusting the back pressure for performance.

I found some info on the Aquatecture Ram 400 which it appears is run like the AQUAC 240 from a pump pov (not from a technical pov). The RAM 400 has 2 venturi's however and yours appears to have one. It does appear that the person who was actually runniing the 400 was actually using the iwaki 55 rlt.
That would probably make the unit you have the next smaller size meaning the Mag 12 with valve might be a good idea.

Zanski,

It calls out for a Little Giant 4MDQ-SC (880 gph) on the install sheet... It should run fine with a Mag12 or simillar if it needed to be a submersible pump... It was running an IWAKI MD-55RLT (1080 gph) which was a little much...

Aquatecture stuff is built by a local guy here in ATL (can't remember his name), it's nice craftsmanship... Here's the dimensions:

Skimmer Box- 11 1/2"W x 9 1/4"D x 8 1/4"H
Skimmer- overall 23 3/4" tall
Riser- 6"dia tube on riser and cup, 3"dia on internal cup tube

Everything can be removed for cleaning except the riser tube from the box, even the gate valve comes out for cleaning...
