Could the statement in the subject line be true?

I recently decided to test to run my chiller of the Season's table in my APEX. That calls for the tank temperature to be 75.4F today (changing every so little each day or two). I gradually went down to this temperature over the course of a week in order not to chock anything.

It may just be my imagination, but I feel like that the water looks luck clearer now than before. I have not made any water changes since the start of this about a week ago.

All corals and fish seems very happy as well.

No one?

I'm no expert, but I can't see how a slightly cooler tank becomes cleaner water, especially just due to the temperature change.

Well, my thinking was that maybe colder water means less bacteria/algae blooms which would then lead to less particles in the water column which thus would lead to clearer water.

The colder water can hold more oxygen, but clarity comes and goes with the tide. ;)

I've noticed a difference when I set colder temps.

Definitely a higher oxygen content, the most abundant and concentrated life in the ocean outside or maybe including reefs are near in arctic conditions...at the right time of year.

One thing that I can tell you is that I went from 20% water changes every 10 days to 5% every two weeks. My tank look so clear that I can't even tell that there is water in it. I also went from a constant 84 degrees to 78.5.

Well the colder ocean waters tend to me not as clear as tropics, but due to phytoplankton :D

There's lots of research regarding fish metabolic rate relative to water temperature, as the water gets cooler their metabolic rate decreases, so they'd eat less and produce less waste. Maybe related?

Do you have a prefilter on your chiller? That would be the most likely cause for cleaner water.
