Looks good so far. I'd like to see it with the trim on and stained as I'm about to do the trim on my stand and possible make some canopies for my 75 gal and 40 gal breeder tanks.

Woah! can you explain how that door works? Looks pretty cool- are there no hinges?

He used magnets like you get for when your cabinet door wont stay shut. So no hinges, the whole door pulls out when you want to access the sump.

Looks good, I like the idea of the magnets. Gave me some ideas for my stand.

Thanks everyone...I got the stain done tonight, the wood grain really stood out...and yes, the door is held on by 4 kitchen cabinet magnets, nothin fancy, found them in the kitchen hardware section at menards, like a buck a piece...I may take the bottom one out due to the fact I dont want my sump sliding across is when taking it out or putting it in and creating a stress point...Tomorrow ill go check out some trim and give that a shot...Jury is still out on the canopy, ill have to stain it, put it on, and see if it grows on me

Looks good, How do you open the canopy to access the lights

StevieD

I didnt put a top on the canopy yet, still deciding if I even want to use it or do some type of hanging design for my light...If I do use it, Ill put a 2 piece top on connected with a piano hinge

New question though, I have my sand, dry rock, and water in and running. At what point do I add my shrimp and start testing? Also, right towards the end of my last 32 gallon brute fillup, i noticed my TDS meter finally read 001. At what point should I be concerened and change my membrane? I changed the other 3 filters before I started, figured the membrane would be next

are you not going to trim the door a frame? that little hole you drilled to do the cut out would drive me crazy...it would look nice to radius the trim to match the door to keep the look, trim doesnt even need to have any relief, just a plain piece of flat stock..

StevieD

Yeah, Im going to trim it, just wanted to get it setup and cycling...I have it all cut and stained, just bein a lazy arse lol
