I'm shooting for 1xMP60 and 1xMP40 for a mixed reef cube... There will be from SPS to Lps, softies, clams, nems...

Where should the pumps be placed? I would like to minimize equipment view, the overflow and return will only be in one corner.

Tank dimensions:
47x47x23 [inches]

Thanks

If it were me, I'd do 3 MP40's, just my opinion. I feel it would offer a more varied flow patter/options. Would cost about around $100 more but seems like it would be a great option to have flow from 3 directions in a cube.

Ok that's a good point. I guess you would place on on each side? I want to minimize the look of equipment since you are going to be able to see 4 sides of the cube. Of course that healthier corals go first

On the flip side of that 3 MP 40s turned up to full blast are still about 4500gph short of 2 MP60s. There are more parts to replace on MP40s opposed to the MP60s. If you have a tank of 100g or more I wouldn't buy anything other than MP60s. They will grow with your tanks and allow you to keep SPS without flow problems. You can also run them at half speed to prolong life and power consumption. Seems everytime someone asks this question people always reply with MP40, I'm not sure if they have never owned a MP60 but once you do you will never go back. I won't ever buy any Vortech except the MP60, worth every penny. Just my 2c

Taking back to my original plan 1xMP60 and 1MP40... Where would the best placement? This my main question.

The mp60 should be on one of the sides with the 40 in the back
