OK, you guys have convinced me that I need a RO/DI system for my impending reef tank. I would also like an RO unit for drinking water. I have an almost new 20 gallon bladder tank from our old shallow well that went dry. I should be able to use it with a RO/DI unit for RO drinking water, correct? Could I instead get a small bladder tank for drinking water and use the bladder tank to store RO/DI water for top-offs and water changes in a reef tank?

someone once told me not to use a bladder tank for well pump as it has metal fittings and can cause rust, etc. I dont know how true that is.. However, when I did just as you are suggesting... I went and purchased a 20 gal tank specifically made for RO.. has plastic fittings... Not sure if perhaps the bladder is diff as it runs on about 5 psi instead of 30-40.. may have thinner bladder material - again, dont know.
