View Full Version : Help, Sump sock filling up with AIR!

From my overflow, it drains directly down into my sump. I have my PVC below the water line so it stays some-what quiet. My problem is that all of the bubbles from the tube are filling up my sock. Only half of the sock is actually filtering, the other half is floating. Any recomendations on this situation? I tried pinning it down with my heater, but that was unsucessful.

Thanks

Leave it its fine, once the side under water gets to dirty it will move on thru to the air side.

+1

what's your turnover through the sump? you may want to reduce the flow from the main pump.

I believe its a MP50 or 60. I have a valve about 70% open for return water.

sorry if I missed it but what size is the system?

If your flow rate is adequate then you may want to put a piece of ceramic in the sock to weight it.

Honestly would not worry much unless there's spill over and it's creating micro bubbles that are making it back to the DT.

My 55gal with 10gal sump i think.
The micro bubble from my HOB skimmer is a real PITA.

I put a handful of marbles in mine to keep it from floating around...
