I bought a small cleaner shrimp today and I drip acclimated him for almost 40 mins. I put him in the tank and I haven't seen him since. Even when I feed the tank. Is it common for the shrimp to hide for a couple days?

Hi Carey, if you don't mind me asking what else is in your tank with him?

I bought 4 a long time ago. After acclimation and all they jumped in the tank and HID for 3 days...

They will come out when they are ready.

I just moved mine this past weekend from the old 120 to the new 180. They hid for about 2 hours then were out looking around the new home.

Check your tank at night when lights are off, inverts like to come out during night time.

Mine hid, now I can see him swaying back and forth lol.

However as soon as he sees the tongs come out he mad dashes to try and steal whatever food Im trying to feed the fish/corals

Funny little guy.

My cleaner shrimp normally comes out during a feeding. Initially he took a while to come out too. Give it time. You should see him...

My cleaner in my 75 hid for about a week then moulted..I thought he died! He has since moulted 6xs. He climbs on my hand if I put it close to him and he cleans it....pretty cool :)

I've seen a shrimp go into hiding for about a week or so after being introduced to a new tank as well. It molted. I'm guessing the change in water chemistry brought this on all of a sudden.
