So, I'm in the 7th day of quarantining two clown fish. So far, so good.
The QT is a 29 gallon tank with a AquaClear power filter. I have the foam pad and the biomax pellets in the filter, but NOT the carbon. The tank cycled for about 30 days before I added my clowns.
My question is do I have to sterilize or replace the media before I quarantine my next fish? And if I only have to rinse off the media, what does that do to the beneficial bacteria? Do I have to cycle the QT again? I'm sure I have to clean the tank and replace the water, but what about the media?
Thanks in advance for your response.

No need to rinse the media. It hold ur bacteria and doing so will cause. U to cycle the tank again.

Ok, so do NOTHING with the media; just clean the tank, add new water, and I'm good to go?

IMO, If you just used the tank for quarantine and didn't treat for or notice a disease you'd probably be OK. But, media is sure less expensive than fish.
If the fish had issues with a paraisite, ich/marine velvet etc I would use bleach to sterilize everything and change media before adding another fish. If you're not having issues in the DT you can always keep the media populated by keeping some extra in your sump.

For me, if there has not been bacterial or viral infection during QT, I do not change the medium for the next batch of fish for QT.
Otherwise, I change the medium and start another cycle of new medium.
Cycling is very easy and only takes at the most 5 weeks of me doing nothing, just waiting, but if there has not been bacterial or viral problems, I reuse the medium in QT.
Even if I reuse the medium, before the next batch of fish for QT, I generally recharge the medium by having it process a pulse of ammonia.
