faulty temp and MH lights

I seem to get alot of weird temps after my MH lights turn off. When they are on the temp looks fine 79.5 and then as soon as the MH lights turn off the temp spikes to 81.5.

I do have the MH ballasts outside the stand but it is pretty close to the apex. I dont know if I can really move them anywhere else.


Any ideas?

Do you have fans that go off when the halides turn off? If this is the case then maybe the heat is being kept in and not being sucked away. Just a thought,

No I have the fans run for an hour after the lights turn off. Besides it spikes from 78.5 to 81.5 immediately after the lights turn off. It's not a gradual raise. I might by a second temperature device to show the temp.
