What is your favorite shape for a reef tank? To eliminate at least one variable, I think we all like all the front-to-back depth we can get for reefscaping, so lets talk about viewing area.

Personally, I can go either way on this one. I love a nice long 6' 125, but I'm also partial to taller tanks, so I'm building my reef in a 3' 65 tall. I'm not a fan of bow fronts but my daughter thinks their the bee's knees. What are your thoughts? Add pictures to support your position if you desire.

I like the room divider best, but that's not always feasable. Too tall is difficult to work with so i'd go 24-30" max height. Plus I don't think a taller tank do fish or corals any good. Longer is definitely better.

Deep tanks I didn't see on the list. I don't like long tanks, I don't like really skinny tall tanks, I think the best looking tanks are closer to a cube shape.

Definitely love the cubes...in any size....it is like having 3 (or 4) aquariums in one with a different view from each side.

For me, that shape of tank also tends to have fewer flow problems. We are still having one heck of a time trying to figure out the flow problems in our 6ft long x 18inch wide x 2ft high tank. Our closer to cube shape tanks have never had flow problems.

that has always been my feelings as well, but it only wrks out that way if you aquascape it in such a way that each panel has a concise look to it.

large cube or really long. Not a fan of the standard rectangle tank proportion. The cube and extra long tanks offer better aquascaping possibilities.
