Does anyone know the composition of what the green corrosion on copper pipes is? A small amount of chips have flaked off and fallen into part of my sump in the basement. I'm wondering what my level of concern should be. Haven't seen any ill effects other than losing a banded shrimp. Thanks for any thoughts

Copper oxide, according to http://www.buzzle.com/articles/why-does-copper-oxidize-and-turn-green.html.

Thanks for the link, couldn't find the info anywhere. Hopefully it shouldnt be a problem, Ive read that the liquid copper, such as coppersafe, is the biggest problem and solid copper isnt as dangerous.
