Finally have gotten the aquarium moved up to my house from my parents
And leveled up the floor as well as bult up the floor joist with cinder blocks.
Dad done it all. He's a professional contractor. , a good one to. That doesn't mean something bad still can't happen tho. It's a risk I'm nervous about
I bought the aquarium from glass cages about 8 or 9 years ago and kept it at moms. They have concrete floors. Huge advantage and peace of mind when I had it down there lol.

I sooooooo hope I don't have to come back on here
Saying the dang thing exploded

I have read a few people here having larger tanks in old houses on a wood floor

Wish me luck

Well it's filled. Don't have the sand or rocks in yet which will be another couple hundred lbs. If I ever build a house ill build a very small apartment sized home with a large living room for a 400 gallon or so lol

If I was a rich fogey I'd have a aquarium like the bass pro shops have. I don't know how big they are but they are massive

I'm trying. I'm on my iPhone. Every time I upload a photo it shows up on my posts sideways

Yes I agree it's a pointless thread. Lol. I'm a high anxiety and random person lol

Ill try and post one. Forgive me if its sideways

It's not pointless at all! But all threads are better with photos! Especially of a tank that size! It show up sideways on my phone too BUT it looks great! Did you build the stand? I like it.

What are you planning on keeping in the tank?

Yea. Dad built the stand. Ill be honest. I'm a guy that has champagne taste with beer money lol This will be a slow process. I have money to spend on the hobby but not all at once. I debated doing freshwater cause basically all ya have do do is add declorinator. But no. Freshwater is boring. I don't care if all I have are 15 damsels. It will be more entertaining than freshwater

In the past ive had
Clowns
Yellow tangs
Sailfin tang
Triggers
Octopus
Ect

I like everything. I really like volition lion fish but I hate how massive they get

I will defiantly be having me a trigger and a couple yellow tangs. This will be a fowlr system

This makes me so excited about my 240gallon tank. I am sure you are excited after having it for 8-9 years empty.

its not been empty but for about 2 months, i had saltwater in it for years, but then had freshwater for awhile.

it had about 8 cichlids in it but they got moved to another tank

Does anyone know if the mag 24 will be too strong of a pump for the overflow box above?

I hate to go to the trouble of selling it and then buying another mag pump of a smaller rating.

the overflow box has two holes, a 2 inch and a 1.5 inch, i was going to use both for drains and just have my return come back up the back of the tank

Well if you did not live on the side of the world it would not be a problem..

Very cool so far... Pictures to document really do help in the long run. It gives us all ideas and lets us know what you mean...

DSLR... I like the Sony alpha series.

I always jump the gun. I'm wanting to take my time and do it right

I just want live sand. Some live rock (some not a tank full) a good protein skimmer a sump and maybe some macro algaes

Pump needs to be matched to the size of the plumbing. What size are your drain lines?

Two drain holes. 1.5 in and a 2 in hole

I just emptied the 240. I'm paranoid it will crack. The floors are sturdy now that da and I cinder blocked in front if the tank an the fact it's sitting in a 10 by 10 in crosstie. But if u jump a little the water dimples. Which means there is some shimmy there . Dad said we could get back under there and do more work but that that's part if having that much weight on a wood floor. It makes me uncomfortable. Hopefully tommorow I can get it where it where the water won't move even when you jump lol

It's filled again. I can still get the water to move if u jump in front if the tank. Dad said I woul have some deflection no matter what. Now time to get sand rock and salt
