What's your experiences with yellow coris wrasse?

Since introduction to my tank, my yellow coris came out only one day.

Then he has been under the sand bed for about a week.

How often do these guys come out of the sand bed?

I've had them disappear for a long while . . . I'd guess about a week or a little more.

Once adjusted, they will come out all the time, although mine goes to bed around 4 in the afternoon. They are probably on a different time schedule when you first get one, after all, they come from the other side of the world.

I have owned my yellow corrisse for almost 3 1/2 years now. Swapped tanks once. He hid for about 3 days in those 3 1/2 years and it was because of the move. My wrasse will go to sleep at around 8 or 9. Wakes up before lights on. Exposure to my hand and arm in the tank has gotten him used to everything. He will circle my arm with no problem now. re aquascaping doesnt even phase him. Very smart fish!

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I have been thinking about picking up a pair and was wondering how well they do with cleaner shrimp.

I have had my wrasse with coral banded and peppermints for 3+ years and nothing has happened.

It picked on my corals when I had one. Good luck catching it if you have a problem one.

I've had wrasses disappear for a week or more. They usually reappear; sometimes I never see them again. :spin2:

When I first got the yellow coris, he went to sleep very early. Now he goes to bed only after the lights are totally out. He had never hide during the day. Very nice fish.

I added a yellow coris wrasse to my tank one week to the day exactly. It went right to the sand bed and dug itself in. Haven't seen it since. I was sure it was dead or jumped out. Oh well...

Fed my fish today an noon and guess who decides to show up. Hanging out behind some rocks swimming back and forth alive and well. Pretty cool looking fish actually.

I just put 2 in qt, wish I got more now. They stay together all the time. My original plan was one for each tank but I dont want to separate them now. They are always out too. Even b4 lights come on.

They'll harum together I believe.

Mines been out mostly since it showed up a few days ago. Spends time inspecting rock work. I went up the LFS I got mine from to pick up another 1 or 2. Funny both the ones they had in stock came in the same time as mine, but theirs died in their tanks.

Is a 1" to 1.5" sand bed of fine sand be adequate for this fish? If a pair turns out to be 2 males, will mayhem result? Any potential issues housing 1 or 2 with an existing flasher wrasse like a red fin or filamented?
