I have had a Prism Favia in my tank for about a year and a half or so. Started with 3 heads on frag plug, now grown out to 14+ heads.

I have been power-feeding some of my corals (favia included) the last week or two.

Nitrates of coarse high, so I did a 65% WC last night.

Came home tonight (about half an hour from timer=blue light only) and noticed the favia was 'regurtitating' red strands, or sacs.

All the heads took turns spitting out this red stuff - and some heads multiple times.

Grabbed a Pic = look @ right head.

I also took some video, I'll get it up tomorrow.

I noticed the Foxface Rabbitfish came by and ate a 'helping or two' right from the favia... so I immediately turned off the filters and fed the tank to distract the fish... then turned off the lights - in hopes this is spawing!

It's a beautiful specimen.

In that image it looks like it's expelling waste.

Even though I power fed 4-10 days ago, I haven't fed them at least 2-3 days though?

Possible it takes that long to digest?

Could be. Maybe I was assuming too much and hoping.

Anyone know if these Favia 'spawn' into the water column?

Beautiful Favia. I'd assume it is expelling zooxanthellae. Have you changed/increased your light lately?

I changed 3 T5 bulbs about 10-13 days ago.

->also added additional lower nm of spectrum. (actinic in place of Blue+)

That is waste for sure. I had a Favia spawn at home several years ago and it looks a fair bit different. You would more likely see distinct small white oval packets coming from multiple polyps all at the same time. But, keep up with the heavy feeding and be sure to keep your chemistry in great condition and you may well get spawning at some point.
