So maybe it is an austra? Looked around some more and the eyes do look kind of like this? Thanks

I'd say there's no way it's an australomussa. I have one, and it's structured nothing like what you have. Your favia guess is probably closer to being accurate.

I always thought the same large eyes and not nearly as many until I found this page earlier today. It does look alot like the eyes in this pic?

Yeah, it does look similar, but I'm still thinking it's no Australomussa. Australomussa like to plate similarly to a chalice. I can't speak for all of them, for they may attach to a rock when given the opportunity, but mine has a smooth shell like bottom that is similar to a Wellso or a Trachy. Your piece appears to be encrusting around the edges, vs. plating the way an Australomussa would.

Also, there's nothing in the background of that ARKive photo that allows us to estimate the size of the polyps. Typically, Australomussa polyps become fairly large, like a Scolymia Vitiensis. Judging by the zoas in the background of your photo, those polyps don't look big enough to be Australomussa.

Good point on not knowing the size for reference! Will have to wait it out I guess will report back in a few years once it is bigger.....;)
