Locally, that coral sells for $40-$60 for one inch.

What makes it so wanted?

Color? Iridescence? Growth speed?

The real price is 40 to 50.

LA ask to 3x times the price.

Yeah the RD has come down significantly. I have it, and even from the start I never understood what the hype was all about. In some pieces the price is justified but this isn't one of them. I got mine for 30 bucks

purple monster is another really high seller. Oregon tort can be expensive. strawberry shortcake can get pretty high in price. They are usually slower growing corals with great colors that are high priced.

I think that second shot is CUNA's colony. I dont usually spend more that $25 for a frag of coral. But some expensive ones that come to mind are usually chalices like My Miami, and some of the SC Rainbows, and some of the cornbread and Jason Fox chalices as well.

Chalices and scolys come to mind...and then there are master scolys.

I think LA charges a premium because they offer a 14 day guarantee. I don't think many ppl or even vendors would offer that. For experienced SPS reefers, they might not need the guarantee, but I think for people starting out on SPS, it gives a good peace of mind if the SPS suddenly RTN/STN within the 2 weeks.

The only problem with rd is reefers who have had it for a period of time, say a year, report it is an easy to keep and fast growing coral.

Perhaps it was limited in the distribution when a handful had it and were charging $200/inch but if you watch the for sale section it comes up regularly.

An exotic car has a finite number produced and is easy to track compared to a living organism that can be cut up for others.
