so i use brs 2 part and i had mixed the gallon jugs 6 months ago...i dosed my mag with no problems,and i dosed cal with no probs...i went do dose alk and as soon as the first few drops hit the water it turned into what looked like big flakes? is the soda ash gone bad? i never seen anything like it before.:debi:

I think it's fine. I'm using the same stuff & mine does the same thing, but it quickly dissolves. HTH

really? i dont think thats normal...normaly when dosing alk u can see the cloudyness when u dose it and it goes away...it actually look like it turned into big flakes...like snow...lol...i had flakes in my return chamber of my sump

It's normal, mine does it too. As long as you aren't having buildup on your pumps you are fine.

Do you dose Calcium and Alk almost at the same time?

The snowflakes likely are magnesium hydroxide. The high pH causes it to precipitate temporarily. This article has more:
