View Full Version : Foxface issue

Let me first just start off by saying that I have been very happy with Bluezoo in the past. I've always considered Bluezoo and Liveaquaria the top two places for ordering online livestock.

Last Wednesday I received a shipment from Bluezoo. Everything was fine, except for a Foxface Lo. His shipping bag had a small leak in it, and this allowed the ammonia levels to elevate in the bag. The bag also reeked when I opened it. I could see he was near death, so I forwent the drip acclimation and added him directly to my QT. Fortunately I had already calibrated my SG to match Bluezoo's beforehand.

It was touch and go for a while, but gradually the fish's condition has improved. However, I also noticed that first day that the foxface has what appears to be Lymphocystis (or possibly fungus/bacterial infection) all over his tail, fins and spines. So, that same night I emailed Bluezoo with pictures showing this. I was hoping for at least some feedback or an opinion on what this disease might be and how to treat it. I also find it hard to believe that the Foxface just developed whatever this is overnight in the bag; it seems likely to me that these spots had to be at least somewhat visible before they even shipped him.

So far, no response from Bluezoo. I feel like they've left me high and dry. I'll have to think long & hard before ordering from this sponsor ever again.

Here's a recent video. He looks much better now than when I received him, but the spots are still on his tail, fins and spines:

OK, can't figure out how to embed the video. So, here's a link:

Thanks for the update. It looks like we received an email about this on Saturday. It was regarding an order shipped to Robert Miller. If you are not Robert Miller then please disregard this response. The photos in the email have been sent to our husbandry department to be looked at and their responses will be sent via email.

Thank you again for the update, we hope we can get any problems you have had with your order resolved quickly.

OK, just to followup:

Bluezoo just called me to discuss the situation. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and knowledgeable. His opinion is that it's mostly likely a bacterial infection, and needed to be treated with antibiotics. We discussed several options I could use: tetracycline, erythromycin, Furan-2. He also offered to send me a replacement Foxface Lo to make this right. Not entirely sure what I will do with two Foxfaces (if this sick one makes it), but I will figure something out. Maybe trade one of them. But I'm happy now and will continue to use Bluezoo in the future.

Just wanted to thank Bluezoo for replacement Foxface Lo I received today. It's a very nice looking specimen. The other one is being treated with erythromycin. So far no change in his condition, but we'll see what happens.

Live aquaria is #1. They would of responded with out this having to be posted on this site! Seems like this site got you a foxface! As far as coustomer support, packing, and health of fish liveaquaria is on the TOP!

For the record, the sick foxface looks like he's going to pull through. The erythromycin (as was suggested by Bluezoo employee) has cleared the infection. Yes, I had to spend $$$ on the medication, but they made it right as best they could by sending me a healthy foxface free of charge. So, I feel this vendor has done right by me.

Don't get me wrong; I love LA and use them often. But I also won't hesitate to use Bluezoo again. In fact, I will be joining the next Bluezoo group buy my local club is having.
