what is this and how can i use it

Hi i recently purchesed a 72g bowfront. it came with a 30g sump i need to partition and i dont know what the heck this other thing is or how to use it. it is acrilic, looks home made, it has 3 chambers, 4 spots drilled with bulkheads in them,the top left is isolated from the rest, and the bottom right has a small gap and may be a bubble trap.

Looks like a protein skimmer. The hole on the middle bottom is where the pump would pump water in the foam would rise and fall in the section on the left, and the right side is where the water would flow back in to the tank.

Thats a CPR HoB Protein Skimmer. I had one and was "ok". you can try and rebuild it and use but other then that there's nothing you can really do with it.
