Hey there
I was wondering if there are any puffers or lionfish that would be happy in a 72 gallon tank.. Im really open to ideas so if you guys know of other fish like triggers that would be happy thatd be great too.. Would i be able to keep a snowflake eel with any of those fish as well?

Thank you!

You would be able to keep a couple different types of lions, its just your preference. Theres dwarfs like the fu manchu and fuzzy or some of the smaller ones like radiata or mombasa. All would be fine with a snowflake eel.

I'd go with a Mombasa. I'd be very cautious with a Puffer.

You could go with multiple dwarf or medium-bodied lionfish in a tank that size.

The dwarf species you're likely to find are Dendrochirus brachypterus (fuzzy dwarf), D. zebra (dwarf zebra), D. biocellatus (fu manchu), or D. barberi (Green Hawaiian).

The medium-bodied lions would be Pterois mombassae (Mombasa lionfish), P. radiata (radiated/clearfin lionfish), P. antennata (antennae lionfish), or P. sphex (Hawaiian lionfish), which is pretty rare, but a great fish.

You can see all but the P. sphex in these QUICK STATS (http://www.lionfishlair.com/quickstats/quickstats.shtml). I haven't added the sphex yet...

Here's a photo of our P. sphex:

As for puffers and lionfish as tankmates...not a good idea, as the puffers will nip at them relentlessly.
