in my 55 gallon right now I have 2 750 gph(I think) one on each of the sides of the tank. my question is should I upgrade both or one or not at all to improve the water circulation. also should I re-position the power heads to be on the opposite of my sumps return line(400gph pump)

im open for any suggestions.

Flow will really depend on your livestock, some like it strong, some like it soft. A general bare minimum of flow that i believe to be widely accepted is 10x your tank size with many aquarists' tanks in the 20x-30x range some even more than that. But again, livestock... What are you keeping? As far as amount of flow is concerned it sounds as like you're in the 30ish range if those numbers are correct so you're probably just fine. A common placement is having your powerheads on either side of the tank, and the return just somewhere in between.

2750 total in a 55 gal is plenty for SPS coral and possibly to much for soft corals and some LPS

Posistion them for turbulance and no dead spots.
