I have a 29g bio cube. I live on the coast and always used natural sea water that my LFS gets. I've recently started thinking about trying to mix sea water (instant ocean maybe?) because I haven't been successful in growing or even maintaining corals in my tank. I'm thinking I need to try something different and this may help.
Another big reason pushing me to try it is because today I was at the marine science center, which happens to be at the same inlet my LFS collects its natural sea water from, and I noticed cases of Instant Ocean salt water mix.
Why would an aquarium use mixed salt for their tanks and the rehabilitation tanks instead of using the natural water that these animals come from which is literally in their back yard and way cheaper/easier?
It is definitely cheaper and easier for me to use natural sea water but I want what's best for my tank.
