it says add 2.5 measuring cups.... what does that translate to in ounces? i have three very different sized measuring cups in my house so how do i know wich one is the size brs is talking about??

its going to depend on the density of the chemical.
2.5 cups = 591.5cc
Density of sodium carbonate (soda ash) = 2.54g/cc
2.54x591.5= 1,502.41g = 53oz
Density of calcium chloride = 2.15g/cc
2.15x591.5= 1,271.7g = 44.86oz

Animalkingdom, we're talking volume here... Not weight.

Ounce is a measure of weight, fluid ounce is a measure of volume. And the OP said he has 3 different 'measuring cups' in his house. Doesn't one of them say 'cup' on it? It's a standard cooking unit.

Wow - you guys are over thinking this:)

Go to the cabinet and get the measure that says 1 cup and is conveniently graduated into 8 equal parts (ounces)

Measure two of these plus one half.

Put in a 1 gal jug. Fill with ro/di. Shake well. Dose

I like to weigh mine out so I can make smaller batches and still get consistency and not have to play as much with dosing amounts due to precision errors in measuring. Feel free to use my values for weighing but as mentioned, do not use them for volume

You haven't taken the hydrated forms of calcium chloride. Exposure to humidity will change your density value.

Which is why I don't mind fudging it with cup measures. :)

I got it thanks

good point...Im still using the anhydrous. I will have to switch next time I make an order now that they dont sell anhydrous
