Got some dark colored stuff coming up on rock. I'm recently (less than one week) cycled - pH is 8.3, NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 < 20 ppm. Is this coraline or cyano? It's in a SUPER high flow area, and it does NOT come off from a blast with a turkey baster. Thoughts?

Cyano will coat everything, your sand included. Also cyano will get stringy if you will in the flow

Woo hoo!!! Thank goodness! It looks quite purple in the picture, but to my eyes it looks like a dark red - almost like a cabernet. I was worried that it was cyano because it's "spotting" my rocks - but it does NOT come off. I was also suspicious because I know that cyano loves low flow areas, and the rocks with this color are in high flow areas. And it is not on the sand at all, only the rocks. I was a bit worried, as I've heard about how difficult cyano is to remove. Thanks for the quick responses! Time to get my clean up crew! :)
