Is it safe to use a aryclic tank for saltwater after it has been used for a lizard?
Thanks

I would give it a real good cleaning. One of the biggest fears of using a reptile tank is leaks, lizards tearing the sealicone. Some mention cross contamination, but I've never heard of anyone actually having that problem.

And please be sure that the tank is strong enough to hold the amount of water.
If it was a tank specifically to be used as terrarium the acrylic used might be thinner than what is recommended for aquaria.

lizard tank built knowing it wouldn't have to hold water for year after year... it'd make me too nervous...

Do acrylic tanks use silicon? I have a glass tank now.

It is 3/8 front and back 1/4 on sides. That is too thin isn't it

If t was designed as a fish tank it should be fine with a good cleaning and inspection.

yes , just clean it with water and ur good to go! :) my persona opinion... i wouldnt use acrylic for saltwater, scatches easily and also hard to maintain algae, pain in the neck to clean algae off acrylic/

1/4 sides scares me... although, the size wasn't listed and that's super important for structure. What are the dimmensions? I'd sell the tank and get a new one. Get exactly what you want so you are happy in the long run...

My first sump was a lizard tank. It had the temperature gauges on the top that I removed. It held water and now I use it as a QT tank (ripped out the baffles). You could use it as a sump/fuge or qt if you want to use it.

I will say that the lizard lounge glass tanks with the integrated screen top are not intended to be filled more than halfway. Thats not what we speak of here, since he says his is an aquarium. I just thought I would add that in for general information to others.

There we go... a 125 with 1/4" sides... No, that will definitely break or at least bow terribly for awhile before it breaks...
