I have a small refugium w/ chaeto and agardhiella. I run ~5K CFL for 20hrs/day over the fuge. Both macroalgae grow like mad. Unfortunately, I also get green hair on the red agardhiella, though not on the chaeto. As it began to choke the red algae, I decide to try dipping it in a 50/50 peroxide solution for 1 minute. I figured, worst case it would kill both. Well, it almost snuffed out the colony of agardhiella, which is struggling to recover. But to my amazement it seems to have done almost nothing to the green hair. I've spot treated green hair on LR with peroxide before with excellent results. So I'm not sure what's going on here. This is like trying to eradication cancer -- kill the infection without killing the host. Any ideas? For now, the only idea I have left is, instead of dipping in solution, to spot treat the green hair once the agardhiella recovers, if it can.

thanks.
