So i have been fighting red wire algae for some time now, i have tried using different inverts and fish to remove it naturally, i have tried using hydrogen peroxide with mixed results, just tried using a wire brush attachment for my cordless drill and even that wasn't 100%.

So i was wondering if using a lighter and burning the algae would have any effect? I already gave it a try and it didn't seem to do much, however that doesn't mean it isn't dead, was just wondering if anyone tried this or not.

Attached a pic of the algae for reference.

That algae is not exactly a pest, hair algae is, the algae on your rocks is barely noticeable just leave it there. If it is really bugging you remove the rock or manually remove it with sand paper. Still that algae should not effect your tank, in fact I imagine it is somewhat beneficial
