hey guys! my tank is cycled yay!!!! i thought about getting my clown before it was done to start QT but i was afraid that his four weeks would be up before the cycle was done. i had no idea how long the tank would take to cycle. so its done now and i have no fish!!
anyways my qt has been running for a week and its stable temp and salinity, tests show 0 acrossed the board, and from what ive read i think it should stay that way.
so im ready to get my clown tomorrow night and get him into QT. so i have a few questions about acclimating him, and general care.
and the only info i found on this sight was sk8r talking about the death clock when ammonium turns into ammonia after the bag is opened leaving you with just 30 minutes of time to get your fish in the tank.
1:
Is this the same procedure as fresh water? put the clown and his water in a small bucket and remove a small amount of his water and replace it with tank water every 5 minutes for 20 minutes?
2:
does an Ocellaris Clown have any special requirements i should be aware of?
3:
other than my buckets/net/food/QT do i need to have any extra equipment to make it as painless as possible for the clown?
4:
can someone give me a few DOs and DON'Ts of acclimating fish?
thank you guys very much, and special thanks to sk8r for all of his help in my continuing education. I'm planning on getting this guy tomorrow evening so i hope to hear from you guys then.
ps: ill keep googleing and reading but if i dont feel like i have the information i need to keep this or any animal ill just wait until i have the information/equipment. so if you could please help me with these questions it would be greatly appreciated.
