I added a gbta to my tank a week ago. It took a few days of wandering but has been settled in the same spot for three days. It picked a spot high in the tank about a foot away from my two rbta's. well i came home from work today to find it stuck in one of my powerheads. I immediately turned it off. Only about an inch of his oral disk got turn. Its foot appears ok and its still pretty "bubbly" but the area that got stuck looks bad. Mouth is also gaping. It hasnt backed itself out yet and i dont want to remove it and cause more damage. One good thing is that its not tangled in the fan blade at all. Im wondering if i should take the powerhead off the wall and lay it in the sand. The nems foot is firmly attached to the outside of the powerhead. The reason i want to put powerhead in sand is cause its very high up in my tank and i fear if it lets go it may go floating around the tank. Any suggestions or help appreciated ive never had this happen with any of my nems in the past. Thanks

I got the powerhead off the wall and into the sand. I managed to get the cover off the powerhead releasing the small area of the nem that was wedged inside. Its foot it still firmly attatched to both pieces but you can see where the majority of the damage is from the pic. There is also a small amount of damage done to the area just beneath the tentacles about 2" from the main damaged area. What do you think about its chances for recovery?? http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u450/greg1786/image_zps46f89d29.jpg

I have never had one go into a powerhead but mine got sucked into the overflow 2 different times and both times I thought he was a gonner but both times he recovered. I would let him be and see what happens. If you are worried about him wandering around you could put him into an acclimation box until he is better.

I have lost two previously, because I took my foam covers off because I thoguht they were going to stay put.
Needless to say I ordered 10+/- foam covers for my vortechs and I NEVER have them on with out them.
You have prob seen it in the threads... but trust me... Don't ever trust a moving blade behind a small little guard.
I had a rbta squeeze between the holes in the bottom of a fish holder on the side of the tank, so yeah they can get anywhere they want.

QT it... place it in QT or risk it going into the tank.
Want to keep any hosting items from it too.
The clips on that korrola can come off and pull the blade out at the same time. CAREFULLY.... Get it in a safe place off the wall and onto a safe surface.

Its been a week since the bta was sucked into the ph. After a few days it finally crawled off the ph and onto the underside of a rock completely shaded from any light. I let him be hoping for the best but hes still under there. His body looks like its healed up great only now i have a nem that looks like it started splitting and stopped halfway through. It is split all the way to it mouth and stopped there. The entire oral disk has healed up but it looks like a u shape now instead of a circle. I dont want it to die from no light so im wondering if i should flip the rock over and expose it to the light? What do you guys think?

It knows where it wants to be. It also knows where the light is if it crawled under the edge.
Leave your light pattern running at the same power. It is probably getting some reflected light at least.
Keep an eye on it. Any pictures?
