I have two fish in my quarantine tank that are eating and doin pretty well but my PH is at 7.9. I keep buffering it to 8.2 but the next day it just drops back down to 7.9 . I have 2 expensive wrasses in there so i wanna make sure everything is perfect. i was told to put a powerhead in there to increase circulation and raise the PH . Any suggestions?

7.9 is a perfectly acceptable number. The difference of 0.3pH units you are after is barely perceptible to the fish. Relax. Everything is fine there.

Agreed. If your fish are healthy and not showing signs of stress, the parameters should be fine.

I'm no expert by any means but when you start buffering pH you usually end up chasing your tail and other things can get out of whack. I check my alkalinity and pH should fall in line. I am sure others will chime in.

7.9 is ok. 7.8 is at the lowest end i would keep a tank if any. also buffer is nothing but alkalinity supplement and the effect of ph increase is only temporary and will go away in few hours.
i wouldnt do anything to bump it up and if for some reason it falls bellow 7.8 then u can add air stone or a fan blowing across the top of the tank and open widows or air out the room tank is in.
