Light Requirements for Grape Caulerpa

I have a massive ball of this stuff and am currently using a 150W 14K MH to light the stuff, and wonderd if there is a better/less expensive light to use?

I just put it in and am using the 150, but don't want to spend the money on powering a MH if a 65W CFL would also work.

A couple t5 or pc would be fine its just that grape calurpa is so unstable it can turn white and contaminate your tank use caution

Thanks, can you PM me the specific one you use? This halide raised the 40B water temp 4 degrees today.. More than I like.

Also, the caulerpa did go sexual when I put it in the new tank. I think it was the 8 hours in a bag in the back of my truck with the bright sun beating down on it. The tank went light green haze, and the skimmer worked OT for 18 hours and now it is clear!

Here is a cellphone pic. The top right of the ball is now white, the rest is still green. I'll hold off on adding the clowns for a few days.

That light looks pretty brite at the top.

You know calupera can go sexual from lack of nutrients? Like if the new tank you moved it to, had super clean water, that could have caused it.

Thats the one I have, I think.
Just got to either walmart or lowes, look for Utilitech bulbs and get the 2700k or 3000k, not the 5000k.

It is bright, no doubt, 14K 150W MH bulb about 6 inches above the water!

The water was from the 180, 75, and 10-12 gallons of new. The water in the bag was turning green before I put it in the tank.

I am sure most of it will die off, and that is fine. I just wanted something in there to help with the water conditioning before I tossed in two expensive clowns.
