I have a 60 cube that has been set up for 3-4 months and is doing great except this alge. It is a brown string alge some of them are 6" long i can scrub the rock and with in 2 days it is back. I have a carbon,GFO and bio meda reacter. I also run a octo 150 skimmer 20 gallon fuge and 100# of live rock. My lights are 150w Diy led. I have shut them down for 24 hours and it helps but when i turn them back on it comes right back.

Post a photo. Going after dinos can be quite the adventure so you want to be sure what you are dealing with.

Here is a good page for ID.

Are those little bubbles attached to the algae I'm seeing? If so, it's probably dinos. Last time I battled dinos, the only thing that worked was 3-day lights out. I had to do that once a month, every month; for like 4-5 months straight.

lower lights and lower temp to 74 degrees, add 25 Mexican turbo snails. mine went away and then start using GFO and change it weekly.

Sounds like it might have been something else. Snails do not eat Dinos, at least not for long, as it can kill them. One of the tell tale signs are snails that seem paralyzed for periods of time.
