Welcome to Reef Central How long have you been in the hobby?

Well about five years ago I had a fowlr tank. Had that for about a year then we moved and I couldn't take my tank. It was nothing fancy just had a snow flake eel and a blue trigger. Now I'm on my second tank and it's a reef tank. I'm not a total noob but I'm very much still learning.

My set up is a 60 gallon tank with 60lbs live sand,60 lbs fully cured lr, hob 1000 reef octopus skimmer(no sump) and Exotic Panorama led lights. I started my tank on 1/8/13 and I just hit three months a few days ago. Things have gone well with no major issues as of yet.
Is there a section in the forums to do a build thread?

Hello
I already introduced myself but i was a little lazy in my description. Just want to say hello and introduce myself and my tank. I've posted my progress on several websites and I enjoy the feed back and information from all of them. My tank is a 60 gal tank 48x13x24. I do not have a sump or a ref due to lack of money and space to be honest. I couldn't afford to go for all the bells and whistles so to speak. I was going to call this the poor mans tank build but that didnt seem fair.Even though I've tried to save money it quickly adds up and I'm over $1000.00. The tank was $200.00 with a stand. Sand, heater supply's to start tank $150.00,live rock 65lbs $475.00,lighting $400.00. im running led lights. One http://www.ecoxotic.com/panorama-marine-led-system.html and one reef bright double bright led. not a bad set up for 4 bills. The only reason I mention the cost is even though people say "I don't want to spend money or I need to do this cheap" in order to get into saltwater your going to have to spend some cash.
Here's my set up.

60 gallon glass tank,60 lbs live sand to start tank. ran tank for 6weeks before adding 60 lbs of fully cured live rock. 1 1250 gph K circ pump,HOB FILTER 450 gph,Reef Octopus 1000 HOB skimmer,200 watt heater and no sump or refugium.

I started my tank on 1/8/13 and it hit 3 months on 4/8/13. My livestock list is as follows.
Midas Blenny
Flasher Wrasse
Citron Goby
Banded sleeper goby
1 Truepercula clown
1 Ocelaris clown
2 peppermint shrimp
Some orange zoa's
Several green mushrooms which I've fragged
I Frog Spawn
1GBTA
Several hermits

This particular group of fish all get along great and there's no aggressions in the tank as of yet. I haven't had anything bad happen yet and my only real issue has been some green algae on the glass. I do tank cleaning and water changes once a week. I do 15 gallons a week water changes, plus siphoning and cleaning. Nothing all crazy just mellow tank maintnance so I don't disturb everything to much. After my initial first true cycle I haven't had a bad water check yet. I do water tests once a week and so far I have not had any issues. I have not tested for cal or alk but I will be picking up test kits.

This is my second saltwater tank ever my first being about 7 years ago. Then I had a refugium and my tank plus a filter. No skimmer and no corals or anything. Just a BTA a Blue trigger and a Snowflake Eel. That tank lasted about a year then we moved and I couldn't take it. Well now that I can havea tank where I live here iam.
Pictures above in tread.

Really interesting rockscape - did you glue or cement those rocks together like that? That's a beautiful wrasse, is that a McCosker's? That's the one I'm planning on getting, just procrastinating sealing up all the holes in my top.

Sounds like you're doing a great job so far, and don't consider algae on your glass any issue at all, we all have that, you just need a good mag float algae cleaner. You will want to start testing cal and alk soon, as you get more corals they will use enough that you may need to start dosing two-part during the week even though you do weekly water changes.

Hello and thank you. The Wrasse is a Flasher Wrasse. He's really cool and stays out a lot. I did not glue my rockscape. I keep moving stuff around. My next purchase will be calc and ALK test kits. Appreciate your feedback.

I'm visitin RC from many years but i did not post anything because of my english is not soo good. The wrasse is spectacular, in general I don't like too mucht the arch of rocs because i find them not so natural... pay attention to the mushrooms because when they start growing becames often infestating... I started whit a small colony of 3-4 and now have a thousand of blu spotted mushrooms in my 90 gal tank

Thanks Greg and everyone. :) I picked up three frags yesterday. These will be my last additions for awhile. To be honest I put to much in my tank the last month. Everything is doing well but I want my tank to have time for everything to adjust and I don't want to cause any issues.
