I was routinely checking my RT pump in the basement inside the sump stand ( open back)
It was unsually hot and I had never seen it that way before, so I thought something must be wrong.

I stopped, isolated, removed and opened it. i did not find anything stuck there, no gravel, no nothing. I just cleaned it with water and cleaned some little slime and put it back in.

But this time I just replaced the 2 1" elbows that were in the pump-out with a wider 1.5" spaflex. Eliminating the 2 elbows, FWIW.
man that spa flex is not flexibale at all!!! I was afraid it would open at the couplers!!!

And I recheck the pump, it stays hot now.
WOndering if this is usual for this Panworld 200PS pump in spring/summer.....

People who have this pump, you think this is normal for this pump or something is going on? with the bearing??
Its just been working around 3 months and I know it has a good reputation.
Please help.

See the pics..

with its pulled apart, see if you can spin the mag inside the pump. if it spins easy/keeps spinning for a bit then its good bearings. (when i would spin mine, it would free spin for a little bit.) but if it makes a half rev, then stops and or the bearings feel tight/stiff, then one might be going bad

but, yes, those are warm running pumps. they have no cooling. just a fan blade on the back, but it doesnt blow inside the pump, just across the outside.

how long can you put your hand on it before having to remove it because its too hot to hold?

Thank you for your reply.

yes the impellar can spin very easy and it goes on, i tried that, no issues there.

Well, i can barely keep it beyong 15 seconds.
It was kinda ok in winter when my basement was not heated, but now as it s warms up, its getting hotter, I do not see any issues with it though.

Well, so it supposed to stay hot and still function normally? Interesting.

Try taking off the back cover and cleaning the dust off the fan. Sometimes it gets caked on their and keeps it from moving as much air.

With the plastic housing off (inner And outer). There is a magnetic drum inside the pump. That's what I was referring to spinning.

On the smaller pan world pumps, people have tied a computer fan to add circulation and help cool things off.

And 15 sec is about right from my memory.
The aluminum outside helps pull heat from the motor to help cool. But in return makes it hot

The housing is an aluminium heat sink basically.

Ah, I dont think I moved that magnestic drum :eek2:
I will open it yet again and see how it spinns.
Thank you!

The fan is workin gok and moving enough air around.
