Hi there,

I am setting up a new 300 gallon in wall see through reef for my office. It has been quit awhile since I purchased or even read about sumps that I am looking for some advice. First, larger is better. It needs to be kept under the tank so 24" is going to be the maximum width. I would really like to increase overall system volume so even if I could get 50 - 75 gallons more would be great. I plan on using a SRO XP-5000 ext. skimmer with this setup. I could be swayed to an internal if the right skimmer and sump combo could be purchased. One last note, I would rather have a separate refugium then one built into the sump.

What are your thoughts?

If you've got the budget, elite aquatics can build you anything you can think up.

I have a used 75 gal tank that I siliconed 2 baffles that are good for level control for my skimmer and a bubble trap

I would stay with the 5000EXT skimmer, the non cone skimmer is $300 cheaper and the same performance. You can run the skimmer in the sump
