So the pump works great on my 90 gallon for a month now. I wake up today go down into the basement and find my yellow tang sucked into the pump struggling to get free. I free him he swims away and I see him swim back and forth for a while and now hes hiding in the rock work. I just hope this didnt do him in. This has caused me to change my DA controller to on 15 seconds off 15 seconds so if this happens again the fish will break free after 15 seconds at most

That sounds awful, I hope he's not hurt.

From now on buy smarter fish!

Just kidding. I hope your tang is OK. My Purple tang loves to swim back and forth in front of mine.

He is eating well so seems ok. If I have it on wave mode it will prevent it from happening again, at least being stuck in the pump...I just worry about the constant wave back and forth and the integrity of the tank/stand....Seems to me it may take a toll on the tank after a while

No fish that is healthy should ever get stuck on a powerhead. Just some food for thought.

I had two healthy fish get sucked into my intakes. A little different, but I can see a healthy fish getting sucked into a powerhead pretty easily. Vortechs eat fish all the time.

I have run 8 vortech's on my tanks and never had a healthy fish get sucked in. They just don't have that much suction force. I even had a hawkish and blenny that would perch on the mp40 while running full blast and had no problem swimming away.

A smaller tang and a 3200gph pump that is ramping up and down, sure, I could see it getting caught. I've never seen it happen, but it doesn't surprise me.
