2 weeks ago I had a bubble coral fall (darn snails) and land upside down. It damaged the tissue and brown jelly became present. I removed the coral completely and tossed it instead of trying to salvage it. I don't believe the brown jelly was allowed to go into the water column and float around the tank to infect other corals.

Fast forward to 3 days ago and a nearby bubble coral appears to be receding and I can see the skeleton where I couldn't before. I checked water parameters and Alk was low. I dosed to get Alk back to 8.3. Last night I get home from work and the end that was receding has pulled back further and is deflated looking compared to normal.

Do bubble corals recover from this? If all parameters look good now what other steps should I take to remedy? Do I remove the coral and toss this one as well?

I will post a pic tonight when I arrive home to take one.

these corals can "come back from the dead" if environmental conditions are optimal

make sure SG, alk, Ca and temperature are correct with reliable tests

heavy LPS such as Plerogyra can be mounted securely on liverock with a combination of putty and super glue gel

Ok, I will be patient with it and see how it goes. Thanks. Can't get a pic tonight but will keep an eye on it.

Thank you for responding.
