I would not keep this species with eels, they are such a small fish I just see them being an eel snack.

ok. I'm currently building my 180g, BB too, and planning to have a pair of Volitans lionfish, lthinking in partners I was considering an eel, angler or scorpionfish maybe this fella can join them, instead of the eel. How small are they?

Mine is about an inch, a d they don't get too much larger. I'm afraid in a 180 you would never see the little fella, and as such feeding may be difficult.

Caronte,

You're looking at about a 3" fish max size for tubers.

Here is his soon to be buddy. This SA betta will end up in the same display as the tuber.

Where can you find these for sale? Are they regularly available or more of a DD type thing?

I see alot of anglers consistently on DD, alot of different species and color morphs. My personal favorite is the black with orange spots.

Unfortunately, that is one of the juvenile colorations of A. pictus and A. maculatus, and they will eventually "grow out of it".

Still, i would be completly fine with a total black fish if thats what im hearing, don't see many of those.

Actually, they don't necessarily just lose their spots...IME, they start growing "patches" of color on them. Our little pictus started to look like a red sponge, unfortunately we lost it, for some unknown reason, not SAD-related, IME.
