Did I make a mistake buying this coral? I would say my coral experience is intermediate. I dose BRS two part and have kept SPS, and soft corals for a year or so with no issue. My research on the goniopora was vauge at best when I made an impulse buy on it. I am wondering if I have made a big mistake making this purchase.

The green variety is much harder to keep than the reds but not impossible. I would suggest spot feeding a mixture of phytoplankton mixed with some reef-roids. Reef roids were the best I found for keeping the green one long term.

Yea I do believe reef-roids was originally made for gonis. I've been in the hobby 10 years or so and I've only seen one long term success with a goni, it's a 10 year old red goni the size of a basketball when fully open. All others I've seen do a year at best then just slowly die. Def one of those corals I believe doesn't do well in captivity , or is much harder to keep. The other one I found to just go down hill for no reasons is the elegance

I've had a red one for about 7 months now with little to no coral experiance at the time of purchase, and I can tell you that it has just about doubled in size with nothing more than basic dosing (as you're already doing) and the occasional spot feed.

Ok.. I was kind of thinking along the lines of what most of you are saying. Thanks to everyone.
